Shred is Hiring

As a result of excellent growth in the past 12 months, Shred is looking to hire a full or part time member of staff for the following position.
Graphic Designer

Shred is well known for our innovative and effective advertising, design and print solutions. We are looking for a bright, experienced and talented designer to join the team at Shred and help build our future.

Job starts:
1st June 2010

Location: Our central Plymouth offices

The Role:

Shred's approach to business combines our skills in innovative ideas, lateral thinking, eye-catching design and a sharp pencil on the figures to deliver excellent results for our clients. The role of a designer at Shred is far broader than your normal design position and we are seeking an exceptional person that can deliver on a whole variety of fronts. The role will involve the following duties:

Day to day design for client projects both for print and online
Designing Shred's magazine titles and their creative evolution
Developing and updating our own websites
Participating in Shred's event marketing and promotional events
Evolving the Shred Brand
Coordinating with external companies and suppliers
Reporting on a daily and weekly basis on projects

The Candidate:

This a broad and challenging role within the scope of the design industry and calls for a passionate designer that is happy working in a small team. The candidate needs to be able to take a brief and develop fantastic pieces of design with an eye on total project budget. The candidate must be able to work well under pressure and to very tight deadlines as well as be prepared to bust a few late nights if occasionally required.

The Candidate must be a competent Mac user with full knowledge of Adobe CS as well as boasting some knowledge of general Windows programmes. They must be able to create design for print and also design for web and have extensive knowledge in building simple websites as well as a decent level of knowledge to work with external suppliers to create decent CMS websites and similar.

No formal design qualification is required for this position as the candidate will be judged on their work.

They must have an eye for detail, get frustrated when they see spelling mistakes and probably get slightly upset when they see people using Brush Script and Comic Sans on anything other than signs for jumble sales.

With the majority of Shred's clients working in the outdoor sports industry an understanding and passion for outdoor sports would be essential but previous industry experience in this sector is not a necessity.
